  What it is:

  Step into the vibrant world of our intermediate strings group class, where the magic of music unfolds through shared discovery and collective harmony. Together, students will delve into the intricacies of string technique and interpretation, drawing inspiration from each other’s progress and insights through collaboration. As a part of the WCA Orchestra class, students will:

  • Experience playing as part of an ensemble.
  • Tackle challenging passages.
  • Learn advanced techniques.
  • Deepen musicality.
  • Explore the rich textures and complex harmonies that make orchestral music so captivating.
  • Gain confidence and stage presence through in-house and community performance opportunities.

  Open by teacher invitation to current WCA violin, viola, and cello students this class is perfect for musicians who are eager to deepen their musical knowledge, enhance their technical skills, and experience the joy of creating music as part of an orchestra.

  Jazz Combo ensemble

  What it is:

  Dive into the heart of jazz with our dynamic Jazz Combo group class designed for intermediate musicians eager to elevate their ensemble skills.Open by teacher invitation to current WCA piano, drum set, bass, guitar, trumpet, trombone, and saxophone students, this class is perfect for instrumentalists who have a solid foundation in their instrument and an interest in jazz.

  • Learn to interpret melodies, read lead sheets, blend your sound, and support your bandmates to create tight, cohesive performances.
  • Build confidence in soloing and spontaneous musical creation through guided practice and improvisational exercises.
  • Sharpen your sense of timing and rhythm with focus on syncopation, swing feel, and groove.
  • Cultivate your listening skills and learn to communicate musically, creating dialogues and dynamic exchanges within the combo.
  • Gain confidence and stage presence with in-house and community performances.
